Bell Restoration Fund - Good News!
It is wonderful to advise that due to your very generous donations together with three grants, two commercial sponsorships and our recent social events, the target to raise £35,000 (75% of the total needed) towards the refurbishment of our bells has been achieved. Congratulations and sincere thanks to all that have made this possible. Proceeds from fundraising events already planned, the Sponsored Run, Unwanted Present Sale and Christmas Concert, will be used to fund the remaining balance of the total cost. We will now resubmit our application to the Diocesan Trustees to proceed with the works. A full breakdown of costs and funding is provided on the notice board at the back of church.

Live Simply:
Last week the Mayor presented the parish with a community runners-up award from Ansdell in Bloom for our wild flower area. It was a lovely recognition of our parish commitment to live more simply, sustainably and in solidarity with the poor. The diversity of flowers is just one small way of caring for God's creation.

Base Youth Team:
We are currently looking for new team leaders to join the Base Youth Group. It is a very informal, relaxed environment where the children from years 6 - 8 can catch up with their friends. Fortnightly meetings (Thurs 7 - 8:30pm) in term time at St Joseph’s Parish hall. We provide a variety of fun activities including a tuck shop. If you have the time and enthusiasm to join us please email to: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . Check out our website: http://www.st-josephsansdell.net/youth-clubIf we do not get any volunteers we may not be able to run the group this year! Please contact Fr. David.

SVP:
The society operates in small groups called Conferences. They meet regularly to review their work as well as allocating future work in a spirit of prayer and mutual support. The work of a Conference is usually concentrated on local visiting.

Tabor:
The new Tabor Carmelite Retreat House programme is now out. You can get a copy from here (pdf).

Mass Times at Holy Family Freckleton and St. Anne’s Westby:
Please note that from 7th Sept Sunday Masses at Holy Family Freckleton will be at 6.30pm Vigil & 10.45am Sunday. Sunday Mass at St. Anne’s Westby will be at 8.45am.

We have a wide selection of cards for all occasions and we also have a small selection of rosary beads and other gifts for sale at the back of church.

Baptism:
Please contact Fr. David if you would like to arrange a Baptism. Two preparation meetings are usually required. The practice of celebrating some Baptisms during a Sunday Mass is encouraged and the children being Baptised outside of Mass will be welcomed into the community at Mass on a previous Sunday with a short rite. We hope that all who request a Baptism for their children at St. Joseph’s will feel welcome and become valued members of our parish and of the Catholic Church.

Letting Of Church Hall:
If you know of any organisation interested please go to the Hall Bookings page on this website, here.

Catenians:
Lytham St Annes Catenians congratulate St Peter's Church in Lytham on celebrating its 175 year anniversary. This iconic church has been the spiritual and social focus of generations of families, of clergy, and of religious orders and groups in its local area. Club Days, Rose Queens, Fetes etc have made for rich and lasting traditions. Many of the other long established churches and parishes in the wider region enjoy the same traditions and like St Peter's continue to do a marvellous job in the community. This year it is St Peter's turn to reach an historic milestone. To the present generation of parishioners...enjoy the celebrations."

Parish Choir:
Congratulations to members of our choir – past and present – which celebrates its Silver Jubilee around this time. We thank all those who are, or have been, involved in any way with the choir and the wonderful music they have provided for our parish liturgy. Ad multos annos!

Mass Time Change:
If you weren't alredy aware, the Mass for Tuesdays has moved from 7.00pm to 9.00am. This decision has been taken because we were left with only one weekday morning Mass after the link with St Peter’s. From 10th June there will be two: Tuesday and Friday.

Parish Walk:
Pictures from the last Parish walk can be seen here.

Hyning:
Help is needed in the guest house from Sept 2014 – July 2015. Would suite someone wanting to improve their English skills or someone looking for a Gap Year experience. See details at the back of Church. www.hyning.org

Hospital Admissions:
If you or your dependants are admitted into hospital please ask the ward staff to inform the R.C. Chaplain, otherwise a visit cannot be guaranteed. These days, due to data protection legislation, we cannot guarantee that names of Catholics will be passed onto the Chaplain unless consent is given. The Chaplain and his team are always pleased to visit if they know you are there.

St Peter's Lytham 175th Anniversary:
In 1838 the first stone of St Peter's Church was laid and the Church was opened on 1st August 1839. During 2014 St Peter's will not only be marking their 175th Anniversary with a variety of fabulous events to bring the whole extended Parish family together in true Lancastrian style (there really will be something for everybody), but they will also be leaving a lasting legacy for future generations. St Peter's have published a special bulletin that is aimed to keep you all up to date with the planning and preparations for the celebrations, and also how you can get involved. You can find copy of that bulletin here.

SVP:
The Prime Minister, David Cameron, has recognised the work of the SVP with a ‘Big Society Award’. The hope would be that this award will help to attract more members for the SVP, more funding, and helps them to be taken more seriously when they speak on behalf of those living in poverty. It should allow them to be more effective in preaching the Good News, as St Francis says: “if necessary using words”

Recycling:
The recycling bins behind the church hall are always available for use if you want to avoid storing cardboard, paper, bottles & jars for the fortnightly collection. It’s all part of our LiveSimply project in association with CAFOD.
