Please support the Fair Trade Stall this week-end, and maybe think more carefully this Lent about the full effects of all our buying decisions. Pope Francis has made clear the calling of all of us to protect creation and make justice and peace flourish. Buying Fair Trade, supporting the work of CAFOD, and caring enough about Living Simply and sustainably are all ways of responding to the call. You can find a copy of the St Joseph’s Caring for Creation leaflet by clicking on this link
– it would be wonderful if every household used the prayers this Lent and made some of the small changes from the weekly suggestions. Please also use it as an opportunity to look into the Christian reasons for caring about and supporting FairTrade at www.fairtrade.org.uk
During Lent this year, we invite you to try a “fast from carbon”, from Earth’s resources. By living more sustainably and taking only what we need we are living the Gospel values of care and greater solidarity with the poor. You can find our Caring for Creation Prayer and Action Guide here
. The first week of the guide can be found here
CAFOD Lent Fast Day:
The CAFOD Lent Fast Day is this Friday 14th March. Please take a Fast Day Envelope and prayer card. Tonight, one in eight of us will go to bed hungry. For some, finding food is a daily struggle. Please give as much as you can in next week’s collection, so that hunger doesn’t remain a fact of life.
